Our Approach

What is RAS aquaculture?

Recycled aquaculture systems, known as RAS, is a complete fish production cycle, from eggs to harvested fish, raised indoors in a controlled environment. The process is supported by water treatment systems, oxygen generation, backup power generation, waste resource value enhancement, and other logistics functions. The Great Northern Salmon facility is a modular design that can be copied to other future sites.

RAS technology has been successfully used for decades for producing smolt for ocean farming. In the last decade it has expanded to grow salmon to harvest size. Our company leverages cutting-edge experience to reduce risk.

In addition to having significant in-house RAS development experience, Great Northern Salmon works with partners with a strong track record in developing similar facilities. The design is aligned with advanced production planning and risk mitigation strategies developed by our team.
